DeDEAUX is the first artist in Louisiana to utilize electronic technology beginning with the creation of her project CB Radio Booths in 1975. She is considered a pioneering artist in synchronized digital multi-screen immersive environments and innovative sculptures and drawings merging art and technology. 



DeDEAUX has exhibited throughout the country including the Whitney Museum of American Art, Armand Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, Baltimore Museum of Contemporary Art, the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art to name a few. She is recipient of the Rome Prize as the McKnight Foundation Visiting Southern Artist and winner of the 1975 Demolition Derby in the New Orleans Superdome as the only female contestant in a field of 35 drivers.

RECENT WORKS
Recent works include “The Goddess Fortuna and Her Dunces in An Effort to Make Sense of It All” – an 8,000 sq. ft. multimedia installation featured at the 2011-12 Prospect 2 International Biennial in association with the Historic New Orleans Collection – and “Aboard the MotherShip Part One: Postulations of Myth and Math” premiering on May 10, 2013 at Centre for the Living Arts, Mobile AL. DeDeaux’s ‘MotherShip’ series considers collective mythologies regarding life in the future and the scientific projections that foretell of a future not too dissimilar from the myths. Says DeDeaux, “As none among us knows the future, I have ventured into the domain of Carl Jung, William Blake and others who identify symbols belonging to collective subconscious and dreams to portray a ‘visionary’ future. I set this against mathematical data forecasting future population, climate and commodities. In summation, if we don’t manage the numbers for mothership Earth, then we must ready ourselves for departure aboard another construct of MotherShip. But where do we go, and who gets onboard?”
